Planning a wedding is a big task, it takes lots of research and time. It doesn’t have to be a daunting process, with some simple tips planning your wedding can be easy! As wedding photography is usually one of the first things clients book after their wedding venue we are used to talking to couples really early on in the planning process. We have picked up some helpful wedding planning tips along to way to make life easier for our brides. Not sure where to start? We have you covered.
Create A Wedding Email Account
Keep losing all your quotes from suppliers in your heaving inbox? Create a wedding-specific email account to solve this common planning problem. All your wedding-related emails will be in one easy to find place that you can both have access to. You can also email yourself screenshots of inspiration you may come across. Plus, it saves you from getting distracted by wedding admin when you have other things to do. It’s really easy to allocate specific time slots to your wedding planning rather than being tempted to dip in and out all day.
Organisation
Brides love to get loads of wedding inspiration both online and in magazines. To avoid clutter purchase a folder to keep all your wedding information in. From cut outs to flyers collected at wedding fairs. This way you won’t be finding wedding suppliers business cards all over your house for months to come! We also suggest creating folders on your laptop to store screenshots of everything you like. This can be really useful to refer back to later on. Creat subcategories like table scape ideas, wedding shoes, wedding favour ideas.
Ask For Recommendations
Don’t be afraid to ask for recommendations. If you went to a wedding and you liked something then reach out! People love to support you and you can even discuss recommendations with your wedding venue and suppliers. We have a directory of top Manchester wedding suppliers to help brides planning. Having worked in the wedding industry for years we are well equipped to advise on florists, planners, DJ’s and more. We even know where to get an owl to deliver your rings during the ceremony!
Use Social Media
Social media is a fantastic way of finding suppliers and getting inspiration. From Pinterest to Instagram there are loads of free resources out there. Our top tip is to select popular wedding hashtags and follow them on Instagram. This relatively new feature will deliver wedding inspo direct to your feed without following loads of accounts. Another way of finding great suppliers is to look at the tagged posts for your favourite venues. Suppliers who have worked at your venue will tag them in relevant posts.
The Spreadsheet
We know it’s a bit of a given that you will need a spreadsheet to keep track of expenses if you aren’t hiring a planner to manage the wedding budget for you. We do have an extra bit of advice – use percentages. Once you have established a budget you should allocate what money will be spent where in percentages. This visual way of organising funds really helps you stick to the plan. It also helps you prioritise what’s most important. The venue including food and drink should take up around 40-50% of the budget. This is a great starting point! The next biggest chunk is your photography and video (around 20-25% of the remaining budget).
Hire A Planner
If organisation isn’t your strong suit or you are time short we really recommend hiring a planner. Services range from supplier sourcing to all-out planning. Hiring a professional will ensure you stick to the set budget as well as saving a load of time. Some planners also offer consultations to help start you off with your own planning. We have worked with lots of incredible wedding planners over the years and highly recommend them! Find out our top 12 wedding planners in Manchester and Cheshire.
