From the second we heard about Amy & James’ wedding we knew it was going to be something special. Combermere Abbey was their venue of choice, one of the most exclusive places to get married in Cheshire. It’s such an exciting venue for a wedding photographer with amazing locations for pictures throughout. Cheshire is home to many amazing venues and Combermere is undoubtedly one of the best. We couldn’t wait to take the drone along to capture an aerial photo of the maze!
Combermere Abbey is one of our favourite venues in Cheshire. If you are planning a luxury wedding Combermere is a must see venue. There are endless opportunities for amazing photos!

Bridal Preparation
One of our tips for getting the best bridal preparation photos is to choose an uncluttered location for prep. Having a nice clean space makes it easy for your photographer and other suppliers to work. It also gives a plain background for photos. The cottages at Combermere are perfect for getting ready pictures. We like to capture the final stages of hair and makeup along with details and natural photos. There are lots of amazing moments at bridal preparation that will be treasured forever. Combermere is a great place to start the day off with amazing pictures.
Combermere Abbey Ceremony
Amy and James had planned to tie the knot in Combermere’s maze. Of course being Cheshire it rained on the day and the ceremony had to be moved indoors. Luckily The Glasshouse made a fine substitution. As the name suggests the room has huge glass panes which let in lots of natural light. This creates perfect lighting to capture bright and natural wedding photography. It was such a beautiful ceremony! Having Charlotte Elise Events on hand made this transition seamless. We really recommend hiring a wedding planner for larger weddings at The Abbey.
Bride & Groom Portraits
Luckily for the newlyweds the weather improved and we headed outside for photos. Brides always ask us “What happens if it rains?”, in our years of experience photographing weddings we have always been able to have some time outside for portraits. Amazing photographs can be captured in a short amount of time. We keep an eye on the weather so that we are ready to dash out at the right moment. Some of our favourite images from the day are of the couple in front of Combermere Abbey. It’s such a stunning venue, a perfect backdrop.

Natural Images
During the drinks reception we always like to capture natural photos of the guests having fun. These are some of the moments which our couples treasure the most. The walled gardens at Combermere is a fantastic location to capture natural photos and the formal group portraits too. When it comes to formal photos we like couples to design their day how they want. Whether you want lots of pictures or just a few of immediate family – it’s totally up to you! Part of being a Combermere Abbey wedding photographer is letting couples design their day how they want.
Speeches In The Pavillion
Wedding receptions at The Abbey are held in The Pavillion. A bright space is a key part of capturing the best speech photos. Photographers are always on the lookout for spaces filled with natural light. We love photographing these natural moments which work so well in our couples luxury wedding albums. It’s key to hire a wedding photographer with lots of experience to ensure you get the best speech photos possible.
Summer Weddings At Combermere
As a Combermere Abbey wedding photographer one of the locations that you can’t wait to try out is the gardens. Amy and James married in June when all the flowers were in full bloom. The walled gardens were climbing with beautiful soft pink flowers. Any photographer would make a beeline for this stunning backdrop! The photos of the happy couple strolling through the garden were among our favourites from the day. It’s no wonder Combermere Abbey is a go-to venue for luxury weddings. They also have a lake at the venue which is open to swimmers when they aren’t holding weddings. The lake at Combermere Abbey is another great location for your photographer to take advantage of.
Ending With A Bang
A spectacular wedding needs a spectacular finish, and that’s just what these newlyweds got! The night ended with an amazing firework display. It was so much fun photographing the fireworks exploding into the air, certainly ended the day with a bang. We love capturing all aspects of the wedding day which is why our coverage starts at bridal preparation and ends around thirty minutes after the first dance. If there are plans for later like fireworks or sparklers just let us know and we can make sure we are around to capture the magic!
