This Jacobean grade II listed manor house in Hertfordshire was the choice of venue for Gemma and Brent’s December wedding. Fanhams Hall has some fantastic locations for wedding photography. The house itself is full of grandeur from it’s original features and thoughtful expansion creating variety of areas for Fanhams Hall wedding photography.
This wedding was all the more special as Shane and Brent are friends, having met from seasons snowboarding abroad. Coming from a snowboarding background it will be no surprise that Brent isn’t really the posing type. Shane’s natural style of photography took the pressure off. Keeping couples as relaxed and natural as possible is key to getting really stunning images.
Bridal preparation pictures
Photographs of the day begin with the bridal preparation. The Hall makes for quite an impressive dressing room with Gemma using one of the large reception rooms to get ready with her bridesmaids. Hair and was courtesy of Headlines and the bridesmaids all wore dresses from ASOS. For the brides dress she chose a stunning down designed by Benjamin Roberts from Clifford Burr.
Tips from Shane: Tips for getting the best bridal preparation photographs
Take time for portraits
Fanhams Hall has beautiful manicured gardens as well as a Japanese garden to capture stunning wedding photography. Outdoor space such as this creates a superb backdrop for portraits of the married couple. We recommend setting aside some time to have portraits taken of the two of you on your wedding day. The schedule of a wedding can be very hectic. It is nice for the couple to get some time together to reflect on the vows they have just taken. A stroll through the grounds at Fanhams Hall offers a brilliant opportunity for this.
Photographing indoors at Fanhams Hall
For wedding receptions at Fanhams Hall guests are welcomed into the hall. With stunning original features, this space makes for the prefect place for any banquet. When it comes to these amazing historic buildings, they have beautiful outdoor space and imposing presence on the landscape. It is important though to remember that the inside can have less natural light than a more modern venue would have. Therefore your photographer will have to be able to shoot in more difficult circumstances.
The skill of photographing in low light comes with experience, always check out featured weddings for a good idea of your photographers background. Doing a bit of research will make sure you get the best Fanhams Hall wedding photography.
Unique touches
The team at Fanhams Hall are on hand throughout the day to offer help wherever needed. For Gemma and Brent they even set up a snow machine outside so guests could have their picture taken. This was a nice touch to the day and the guests seemed to enjoy it very much.
