There are some weddings which stand out in your mind as a really good time. Matt and Tony’s wedding at Manchester Town Hall was one of these! Shane has had the joy of photographing many gay weddings in Manchester and this is one of his absolute favourites. The whole wedding party were welcoming and having the most fun all day. Their reception was so much fun too, at one point most of the dance floor were sporting props from our Photo Booth!
Preparation photos
The day began with groom preparation at The Midland Hotel. Both grooms got ready at the same hotel so Shane could capture both. The majority of the time preparation of both couples is required when photographing gay weddings. If couples are getting ready far apart a second photographer can be used to make sure no moment is missed! Luckily for these grooms they were able to have Shane capture both. Preparation photos are always full of such lovely moments. Matt made up a beautiful box with lots of goodies for Tony before the big day – we love capturing these memories.
Beautiful ceremony
Both grooms with a nod to their Scottish heritage wore kilts from Slaters Highland Hire and thistles in their floristry from Springbank Flowers. Once ready the wedding party traveled to the Manchester Town Hall for the ceremony. It was a beautiful ceremony with lots of emotion. It’s a joy to photograph such an expressive couple, there was barely a moment without a smile on the grooms faces!
Confetti shot
After the ceremony the grooms left the building to a cloud of confetti. This confetti photo is one of Shane’s favourite images taken as a gay wedding photographer and appears in his wedding portfolio. The steps of the Town Hall are so iconic to Manchester and a beautiful backdrop for this moment. Once group photos had been taken the newlyweds had their wedding portraits captured in the city centre. Manchester has so many amazing locations for gay wedding photography. Another favourite from this wedding is an image outside the Armani building in Spinningfields.
Individual styling
Matt and Tony’s reception was held at the Town Hall. The grand room was decorated beautifully with thistle accents. Another Scottish element was the dramatic black cake from Torte Cakes. The three tier cake was decorated with hand painted gold thistles and real flowers. We love when couples showcase their individuality in their wedding details.
Epic party
As mentioned earlier the party for this wedding was amazing! Matt and Tony chose to hire our photo booth which was a total hit. We set up right next to the dance floor and were very busy all evening! Creating the epic party vibe was Decades Disco which kept everyone dancing well after we had finished for the night.
