A stunning wedding venue in Wigan
Haigh Hall is a luxury hotel and wedding venue in Wigan. The stunning grade II listed building and spacious grounds offer a picturesque setting with beautiful photo opportunities. With a huge driveway and acres of surrounding land there really is endless potential. Inside the hall there is so much character and the architecture is fascinating. The grand staircase is particularly impressive and makes gorgeous pictures.
Excellent planning and cute details made for great photographs
In the morning the festivities started at Rebecca’s fathers house. The bride and bridesmaids got themselves ready for the day ahead with Flossy & Leigh on hair and makeup duties. They started the day right with matching silk dressing gowns and glasses of bubbly all round! Rebecca’s bridesmaids wore elegant nude pink dresses for the Haigh Hall wedding.
Rebecca looked gorgeous in her long lace gown by Bliss Bridal Centre in Bolton. The dress was paired with gold Jimmy Choo shoes and a beautiful bouquet from Garlands Florist. Ashley had written her a card in preparation for the special day ahead. Inside the card he thanked her for putting up with him for ten years already! Because of the immense amount of planning and attention to detail that went into this wedding, the photos looked great and there was so much to capture. Cute details like this are a wedding photographers dream.
The reception at Haigh Hall
The ceremony took place at a local church and the reception was held at Haigh Hall. Once the couple arrived for the reception they had to navigate their way through a sea of confetti. I love it when the guests come prepared and aren’t afraid to go for it with confetti. It really does make a beautiful image! My camera even got covered in confetti.
For the wedding breakfast, guests were taken into one of the large suites on the second floor of the hall. The room looked lovely with a 19th century charm. AM Flowers in Haigh provided the elegant flower centrepieces whilst Rebecca Karen created the stationary and invitations. What was most special on the tables were the wedding favours – Rebecca and Ashley made a donation to Cancer Research UK for each of their guests that attended. This is a cause that was very close to both of their hearts. As well as this kind gesture, guest were also given little jars of love hearts with bespoke tags.
Natural photography throughout the evening
After the lively speeches and some tea and coffee it was time to cut the cake. Rebecca and Ashley chose a simple but timeless wedding cake. The cake featured four tiers covered in white fondant and finished with cascading edible flowers. This exceptional cake was thanks to Occasion Cakes.
The rest of the evening at Haigh Hall was brilliant, the bride catered well for her female guests providing flip flops for those with weary feet. Dancing photos are always so fun as they are completely natural. The band, Gold (booked via the Alive Network), played an awesome set. To finish off what was a fantastic day, I took Rebecca and Ashley away from their guests for some dramatic evening shots. It is great to get the opportunity to take a few pictures of the couple at the end of the evening when everyone is at their most relaxed.
“Thank you so much Shane we absolutely love the photos! You’ve done an amazing job.” – Rebecca
