For Rebecca and James’ wedding they chose the Art Gallery in Manchester. It was a cool choice of venue for their December wedding. Manchester Art Gallery Winter Wedding Photography is simple and elegant, made more special by the festive decorations.
This wedding was a treat to photograph. The Manchester Art Gallery has many opportunities to take beautiful photography. The atrium in particular looks great, even when the sun goes down. As this was a winter wedding, sunset was around 4pm. Therefore it is important to choose a venue with lots of opportunities for winter wedding photography, i.e. indoor shots.

Deck the halls
There is something very special about Manchester Art Gallery winter wedding photography. Some of the best photographs from the day were taken in front of the huge Christmas tree. It made for a fantastic backdrop with the red and gold baubles.
The couple chose from the traditional Christmas colour palette with gold accents throughout. From the bridesmaids beautiful gowns to the tea light holders on their table settings, gold shone throughout the whole day. This colour scheme and the choice of a black tie dress code make this wedding super chic and glamourous.
Looking the part
The dress code for this wedding was black tie, all the chaps looked very smart with their bowties. The groom wore a very stylish suit from Reiss.
For the brides outfit, she wore a long and elegant gown from Isaac Charles Bridal House and sunning gold shoes from Jimmy Choo. Bridesmaids wore floor length gold sequin gowns. Hair and makeup was courtesy of Jodie Makeup. Everyone looked the part.
The Speeches
The couple enjoyed their wedding breakfast in the stunning atrium at The Gallery. When it was time for the speeches the best men had a special guest. One of James’ old teachers was brought out as a surprise. James was delighted and the reactions around the room made for some fantastic photographs.
Party pictures
One of the best things about a winter wedding is that it’s cold outside. This makes the party even better as nobody wants to stand outside chatting. Rebecca and James had the fantastic Twisted Tubes as their band for the evening.
It is great to get pictures of guests enjoying themselves in the evening. As standard Shane includes full coverage of your wedding day so you don’t miss out on pictures of the party. With years of experience photographing some of the best parties worldwide, Shane loves to capture everyone dancing the night away.
Winter weddings – photographic challenges
Winter weddings can be really challenging for a wedding photographer. Dealing with different elements such as poor weather and low light really puts your skills to the test. Pushing yourself and using your photographic experience is very rewarding and fun.
Marrying in the winter, especially around Christmas time, presents the opportunity to get photographs that are different from the norm. Venues look extra special with all of their decorations which can be used as an advantage photographically. This is especially useful for Manchester Art Gallery winter wedding photography. Low light is the enemy of good photographs. However an experienced wedding photographer will know how to work around these issues.
