Marquee wedding photography Northampton
Francesca and Robert were lucky enough to have an entire farm at their disposal for the big day. This private location was perfect for a marquee wedding reception. We were delighted to provide the photography for the big day.
The atmosphere throughout the whole day was brilliant. Everyone was welcoming, it felt very fitting hosting the day on Robert’s family farm. It’s always a pleasure to be a part of weddings that are a bit different from the rest. The landscape surrounding the farm could not have been more picturesque. It provided an iddilic backdrop for the wedding portraits. Marquee weddings offer fantastic photography opportunities as they are so light and airy.
Morning began with bridal preparation at The Crown Inn in Weston. Along with her bridesmaids Francesca got ready for the big day with a glass of bubbly. Her bridesmaids were all given gifts of flip flops (very practical) and a little bottle of Prosecco. We love to capture these little touches of the day, which is why bridal preparation photos are so important.
Advice from Shane: Tips on getting the best bridal preparation photos
The colour palette for the wedding was blue with elements of light pink. Pink hues were incorporated into the wedding flowers provided by Where The Wild Roses Grow. The bridesmaids dresses were a lovely light blue colour which tied in perfectly with the flowers. Francesca kept her dress simple and timeless. The elegant lace sleeved gown was from Serendipity Brides.
Special guest at the ceremony
After bridal preparation we headed over to the church for the ceremony. Photographers love nothing more than capturing special moments, particularly if they are different from the norm. What stood out the most at this ceremony was the inclusion of the ‘dog of honour’. It takes a very well trained pooch to be trusted having a role in the wedding ceremony. We love photographing dogs at weddings! Check out our Instagram for photos of our french bulldog puppy.
Marquee wedding photography
Once the most important of the day was over the guests moved onto the farm. Set up in the middle of the rolling countryside was a huge marquee by DJ Marquees. Being able to photograph the reception in a marquee is fantastic as natural light floods the space, making marquee wedding photography a dream. Inside of the marquee was beautifully styled. Following the relaxed atmosphere of the day. Francesca and Robert did a great job of including little touches which made all the guests feel so welcome. Flip flops for the ladies and tasty tipples like sloe gin on the tables proved very popular.
Photographing the speeches
The marquee was perfect for capturing natural photography of the speeches. Loads of natural light was let in by the windows. With marquees being white themselves this adds to the light, making wedding photography a dream. One of the best times to capture documentary wedding photography is during the speeches. Choosing a light and open space for this part of the day will result in the best images.
After the speeches is usually when the couple can be whisked away for some portraits. At this wedding there was beautiful countryside at every turn which made taking photos a breeze. Not only could Shane take advantage of the marquee for wedding photography but also the idillic surroundings. Some of the most stunning photography from the wedding was at ‘golden hour’. Photographers use this term a lot. It describes the beautiful golden light when the sun sets. Nothing is quite as romantic as a ‘golden hour’ wedding portrait. There were so many lovely moments between Francesca and Robert during their portraits. Capturing these natural moments is what Shane loves the most about being a wedding photographer.
Having your wedding in a secluded location has one big advantage – the party! Everyone can completely relax there aren’t concerns about noise. In the evening the marquee was transformed into a bustling dance floor. Marquee wedding photography is great right through to the evening. This marquee had a starlight ceiling which gave interesting lighting to work with for photos. Shane’s experience as an event photographer came in handy towards the end of the night. The crowd at Francesca and Roberts wedding were up for the party and it made for some great wedding photos.
