Located in Wigan, Ashfield House is a stunning venue for weddings year round. Boasting a main house full of period charm as well as scenic gardens. Ashfield House wedding photography can taken advantage of the green space on offer or beautiful features inside the property, such as the grand staircase. The venue is set up to be a blank canvas for couples to dress with their own unique wedding styling.
Capturing Moments
Our morning began with Gemma and her friends and family at bridal preparations. Couples can choose to use to bridal room at Ashfield House or get ready in another location. As long as there is plenty of space and natural light the preparation photos will be beautiful! We love capturing the natural moments during bridal preparation. Gemma had gone to lots of effort to make the occasion special for everyone, with matching dressing gowns. These look fantastic in photos as well as adding to the festivities! We also recommend following Gemma’s lead and hanging up the wedding dress and bridesmaid dresses. This helps keep them out of harms way but also makes a great wedding photo. Alongside moments we like to capture details of the wedding day. These images look fantastic in a wedding album as they help add to the context of the story. A few little touches can go a really long way.
Church Wedding Ceremony
The couple chose a church for their wedding ceremony. At Ashfield House you have the option to also get married at the venue. If choosing a church we recommend finding out first about photography requirements. Photographers are sometimes not permitted or asked to only photograph from the back of the church. The vicar at Gemma and Alan’s church were so welcoming and delighted to accommodate photography. It was a bright and airy church – perfect for photos! We especially love the vicar asking the couple for a selfie after the proceedings.
Photographing A Special Guest
Capturing natural moments is a cornerstone of our style of wedding photography. After the wedding ceremony is a fantastic time for this. When all the guests make their way to congratulate the couple there are so many smiles and touching moments to photograph. We also had another important guest who needed their moment in front of the camera. Neville the dog was dressed to impress with his collar and bowtie, he stole the show during his portraits with the couple. As huge dog lovers at Shane Webber Photography we are delighted whenever couples choose to include their dog at their weddings. Get to know our office dog in our about page!
Photos At Ashfield House
Once we all arrived at Ashfield House the sun was shining and all the guests were enjoying the grounds. It was time for the couple to take their formal photos with Shane. Whilst we love documentary style wedding photography we also love providing some traditional wedding photos. These are always images couples choose for their albums and ones they choose to have framed at home. It’s so important when choosing a wedding photographer to get to know their style. Some don’t photograph any traditional images and others don’t take any candid photos. Read our explanation of wedding photography styles. We like a mix of formal and natural images. It’s a day to enjoy after all, the couple should be able to enjoy the day rather than spending all of it taking photos!
Black And White Photos
Ashfield House wedding photography looks great in black and white. Although we love bright, natural and colourful wedding photos there is definitely a time and a place for black and white images. The speeches are great for this as emotional moments work so well without colour. Our black and white images are bright and simple. A mix of images looks fantastic in our bespoke Queensberry wedding albums.
Ashfield House Wedding Photography
The grounds at Ashfield House has an expanse of green space, this is fantastic for couples portraits. Gemma and Alan were naturals in front of the camera. We encourage couples to relax and have fun during their portrait session. By keeping things as natural as possible we make sure the couple feel comfortable. Most people don’t like having their photo taken – this is totally normal! Our approach is centred around capturing natural moments between the couple, not spending hours posing. It’s nice to be able to have a bit of time out from the wedding to chat and reflect on the day.
First Dance
The evening reception was held in the main house. The large and elegant rooms are the perfect place for a grand occasion. Gemma and Alan started the evening off with their first dance together as a married couple. The space was lit with soft purple uplights, creating an ambient effect in the room. It was such a pleasure to provide the photography for their beautiful Ashfield House wedding.
