Christmas is such a magical time of year and Colshaw Hall is the perfect setting for a winter wedding. The team at Colshaw Hall really get into the spirit for their Christmas weddings. Throughout December they decorate the hall with stunning trees and garlands. Fairly lights are also used to decorate the Peel Suite which makes for beautiful night time wedding photos. We were delighted to provide the photography for this festive Colshaw Hall wedding!

Stunning Floristry by Red Floral
Colshaw Hall’s ceremony room is a fantastic setting for florists to showcase their talent. The bride and groom chose Red Floral Architecture to decorate the room. It certainly had the ‘wow’ factor! Floral garlands hung from the oak beams and the aisle was flanked by pretty pink blossom trees. The couple allowed their florists to create something truly amazing for them and it was a pleasure to photograph. Colshaw Hall’s beautiful ceremony space is so bright and airy which is perfect for pictures. We highly recommend booking a talented florist such as Red Floral for your wedding. Flowers can be used as a frame or backdrop to your photographs and candlelight always makes a lovely effect. Award-Winning Photography
Winter weddings require a lot of experience and photographic skill. The light levels are often changing and the days are very short. Our award-winning wedding photography makes the very best of available light and ensures stunning images. One thing to consider when planning your Christmas wedding is the ceremony time. Sunset is usually between around 4pm in December. The light levels drop significantly an hour before sunset. So a ceremony at 2pm will give just enough time for some nice photo opportunities. However a 12pm or 1pm ceremony will give you even more time to catch the light if photography is particularly important to you. Our team of photographers always use the best quality camera equipment to produce clear and sharp images – even if the light is starting to fade. Luckily this Christmas wedding was on a bright and crisp day. Browse more of our award-winning photography by viewing recent featured weddings or visiting the blog.
Photographing Special Moments
We have photographed many weddings at Colshaw Hall over the years but this is definitely one we will remember! Christmas weddings are always magical and capturing such precious family moments is extra special at this time of year. Our couples favourite photos are often candid pictures of their loved ones, these are always top picks for the wedding album! But we also like to capture special photos of the newlyweds. In the evening we took a beautiful photo of Jo and Neil outside the Coshaw’s Peel Suite which was lit with twinkling fairy lights. Colshaw is a truly stunning venue perfect for weddings year round!
Planning Your Christmas Wedding
Christmas is undisputably a magical time of year. It’s also a great time to plan a wedding for lots of practical reasons! Firstly popular wedding venues like Colshaw Hall are difficult to book for key summer dates. The venue hosts hundreds of weddings a year and summer is the busiest time. Choosing to get married around Christmas means you are more likely to book a coveted Saturday date! This is also true for your suppliers. December is a busy month for us photographing weddings, but we are more likely to have availability than during the traditional peak wedding season. Another reason to choose a Christmas wedding is amazing decorations! Colshaw Hall put up trees, wreaths and lighting. All of this won’t cost you a penny and adds to the Christmassy feel of the day!
