Why I Love This Picture

Each photograph in my portfolio holds a special place in my heart. Not only are these photos some of my best work, but they are some of my clients’ favourite moments. That’s a feeling you just can’t beat.

This picture was taken at the fantastic Abbeywood Estate for Lauren and Lee’s wedding. As you can tell it was a beautiful summers day. The weather was perfect to get some amazing photographs.

This image works for me on two levels. The first being the real emotion. This is one of the few posed images I will take during the day, yet it still feels natural and unforced. Lauren’s genuine smiles shine through as Lee hugs her. The second is the depth of field which is the lovely blurry effect in the background. The colours of the tall grass create a perfect backdrop for the couple.

My photographic style is very natural. Because of this, I don’t shoot a lot of portraits of the couple. Portraits are usually done within 20 minutes, whereas other Manchester wedding photographers will take over an hour. I do think it’s important to get a few portraits of the newlyweds and I will give some direction for posing. This is handy for couples who are a bit camera shy and helps to make them feel at ease. When choosing your photographer be sure that you are both on the same page in terms of style.

Shane’s Advice: Top Tips For Choosing a Wedding Photographer

For the main part my photographs will be unposed and capturing the real emotion of the day. Using light, depth of field and framing as my main tools I aim to make each photograph come to life.
